Emily Yake - Top 10

1.Tell us why anyone would want come to your hometown?
My childhood, which instilled in me hard work, faith, and ambition. I was raised in a very blue-collar home with a coal miner/preacher as a father. My mother, brother and I traveled the South singing as a Southern Gospel Trio. I am still so very thankful for that time.

2.What are the (2) most important things in your closet and why?
My husband. After surviving 100% heart blockage last year, he is training for his third Ironman. He works diligently to conquer heart disease and is a true champion for this cause. He is a CEO, activist, amazing father and loving husband all while fighting daily for his quality of life.

3.What do you love to cook and why?
Family. I take my role as a mom and wife more serious than any other calling on my life. Being a full-time step mom has challenged me, but through ample prayer and work, our blended family is a joy. I endlessly devote my efforts to my family’s happiness and success.

4.If you had an extra hour each day, what would you do?
Penelope. This is the name my husband has chosen for me from the day we met. He believes it is the perfect summation of my mischievous, quirky, naïve, and fun personality wrapped into one name.

5.Describe the dirtiest job you have ever had to do?
Being from Alabama (Roll Tide!), and my husband playing college football in Pittsburgh (Go Steelers!), fall is undoubtedly my favorite time of year. There is nothing like cool temperatures, beautiful trees, and football in the South. Since my son’s first word was “pootball”, my love should probably continue!
