1.Tell us why anyone would want come to your hometown?
First and foremost, my relationship with the Lord, the trust I’ve learned to have for the plan He has for my life, and the realization that where He guides, He provides. From there, the husband that He surprised me with, the family that He continues to bless us with, the friends and the support system that He surrounds us with, the abilities that He entrusts us with, and the opportunities that He presents us with.

2.What are the (2) most important things in your closet and why?
Although humility is one of my strengths, as it helps me serve others in the way I do and recognize the areas of my life that can be improved upon, it’s also been my weakness, as it’s prevented me from feeling significant and recognizing my true value. I’d like to continue developing it as a strength, but eliminate it as a weakness. We can be humble without thinking less of ourselves or belittling our gifts.

3.What do you love to cook and why?
Owning our story and loving ourselves through the process. We’re all on different journeys, and we all have our own stories. Not being able to conceive children is a part of our story, and it left us feeling defective and like failures in many ways. Although we struggled with it for a while, the best feeling was when we surrendered to our story, embraced it, and learned how to use it to make a difference.

4.If you had an extra hour each day, what would you do?
The realization that we wanted to be parents more than we wanted to be pregnant. Our ‘inability’ to conceive gave us the ‘ability’ to recognize that God simply had a different plan for our lives and for our family; a plan that led us down the path of adoption and foster care. It’s not blood that makes a family, it’s LOVE that makes a family, and we’re called to love because He first loved us.

5.Describe the dirtiest job you have ever had to do?
When it’s not the sound of my children laughing, it’s the sound of complete silence. There used to be a time when I was uncomfortable with silence, and I surrounded myself with the noise of the world around me. In recent years, I’ve come to find my peace and my comfort in the silent moments that life has to offer, as it’s in those moments when I hear Him and feel His presence the most.
